Haha was just talking about the current owners season ticket sales nonsense ploys the other day...Henry, Beckham, van nistelrooy, Rooney etc etc and for those saying Rooney would score for us...hasn't scored many for Man Utd over the past couple of years, irrespective of position, why would anyone think his strike rate, pace, positioning & motivation etc would improve when moving from top 4 contenders to a lower-mid table team signing up any 29+ year old available for under £10mil with International & premier league experience?

The classic was the game at Highbury where we won 2-0 just before they were due to play in a UEFA Cup final (?? Might have been the Nayim from the half way line one).
Ian WANK WANK WANK non-stop until he had to be substituted as he was so wound up.

Its true Rooney did get absolutely hammered by West Ham fans.
Especially since the Neville's retired.

If I had to guess I can see him going to China in the summer.
And coming back within about 6 months.

Anyone who stood in chav corner at Upton Park to watch us play Man Utd knows he'll never come here. He used to get murders from us

Season ticket renewals hit doormats.

West Ham linked with big name player.

It's like night following day.

Season ticket renewal window open; West Ham release made up transfer rumour.

Wasn't is Ibrahimovic and Vardy last year?

I'd say there's more chance of a Karen Brady/Sam Allardyce sex tape being leaked than Rooney playing for us.

Well I would have thought anyone younger, quicker, who wasn't asking for 250k a week, might be a start. But I suppose that's a bit of a vague answer for your piece :).

As someone said, even with a massive wage cut, he'd still cost us a heap of cash, and I just can't see him with his heart fully in the job. It's possible he could do a decent job for a season, two at a big push, but it just doesn't sit right with me, splashing out on him at his age. He's not got the vision of Sherringham, or the fitness of Zola at the same age.

I was fully up for Zlatan if he could have been tempted, as I knew he was fit as fuck, but Rooney is not the same kind of punt.

I posted on here at the end of January that Rooney would be reported as a potential signing during the ST renewal period.

I didn't think that it would be before the end of March though.

I can see the appeal for us, actually. Could still form a good partnership with Ronaldo (swap for Snodgrass) and Messi in for Nobes. Yeah, yeah, I can see this now.

Not sure any of three would be happy on the bench, though, with Fegs and Ayew firing on all cylinders an' that.

You're an idiot if you think Rooney would come here.9

Re: "West Ham keen on buying Wayne Rooney."
Been asked to write 500 odd words on it and couldn't really say 'Hahhahahah' so I'd have to say, if there was any truth in it, then it's worth pursuing. It would raise the profile of the club and, though he may be three years past it for England / ManU, he might just do what Ruud Gullitt did for Chelsea. I was also asked 'what are the better options' which is the more interesting question because, in terms of who we can attract and who'd want to come, the answer is pretty much no-one.
